She Colors with Her Eyes

My grandmother is a huge influence in my life. She has always been special to me. She's been there for me any time I needed her. She's the type of person who would help anyone. Her smile made you feel instantly better.

​

This piece is dedicated to her life. Each panel represents one year. The central flower is her. The offshoots are her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her early life was not so great. This is illustrated by the lack of color in these panels. Upon moving away when she was 15, her life became much more bright and colorful. Sadly, dementia is taking her memories from her. She is fading, but we still see glimpses of the amazing woman she once was. She is a light and with this piece, I hope I can shed a little bit of that light on the world.
