Taught by film veteran Shelly Pinder, this class will teach you everything you need to know in order to create your very own prosthetic appliance from start to finish! By the end of the class, you will have gained the knowledge and experience needed to sculpt, mold, cast and apply an encapsulated silicone prosthetic piece from a silicone flat mold. On day two, you will be applying your prosthetic on yourself or a model (recommended). Professional-quality photos will be taken of your work and the mold is yours to keep! Light snacks will be provided.

 

Please wear clothes that you don't mind ruining. If clay, silicone or Baldiez get on your clothes, they will not come out. Materials and tools will be provided, but some items are available in limited quantities. Please feel free to bring your own sculpting tools, alcohol-activated makeup, hair dryer, heat gun, airbrush, compressor, paint/makeup brushes and mirrors.

 

If you wish to only observe the lesson and do not intend to participate in the hands-on portions of the class, Observer tickets are available for $150.

 

The class location will be on Teasley in Denton. Address will be sent after payment has been received.

 

Class size is limited, so sign up by March 10th to reserve your spot! Sign ups after this date will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

sculpting and texturizing techniques

molding methods and materials

how to properly mold your sculpted piece

 

On day two, we will continue with:

demolding your piece

cleaning the mold

prepping the mold

casting the appliance

demolding the appliance

prepping your subject's skin

applying the piece to your subject

blending the edges of your appliance for a seamless appearance

painting the appliance to match your subject's complexion

removing the appliance

Monster Clay (medium), white clay, Chavant NSP Clay (medium), clay board, molding silicone, casting silicone, 99% alcohol, naptha, cotton-tipped applicators, paper towels, latex-free gloves, cotton balls, release agent, Super Baldiez, prosthetic deadener, silicone pigment, mixing cups, mixing sticks, powder, prosthetic adhesive, fumed silica, alcohol-activate makeup, mattifyer, Super Solv, class handouts, resource list, sculpting tools, brushes, makeup wipes and more.

 

Cancellation Policy
I understand that sometimes life gets in the way of your plans and I wish to accommodate your need to cancel, should it arise. You will receive a full refund if your notification of cancellation is received by March 3rd. If between March 3rd and March 10th, a 50% refund will be provided. After March 10th, no refunds are offered unless I am able to fill your spot. Funds that are not refunded may be applied toward the cost of a future workshop taking place up to one year following the scheduled date of the canceled workshop. If the workshop is canceled by me, you will receive a full refund regardless of the date of cancellation.

 

Class Guidelines

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the workshop. You are expected to be respectful of those around you and to pay attention to all class instructions. If you are acting in a disruptive manner, you may be asked to leave without a refund.
